What is the best time to visit Pompeii?

The best time to visit Pompeii is early morning because there are fewer people and because you can take advantage of the whole day for the visit.
Our advice to save time and skip the lines is to buy your ticket online.

It is advisable to avoid lunch time when despite the huge archaeological site is usually very busy.

If you decide to spend the whole day inside the excavations of Pompeii, the cheapest option is to bring home something to eat in the picnic areas marked on the maps. However, you will need to store your food in small backpacks because bulky bags are not allowed.
Alternatively inside the excavations there is a bar/ restaurant.

How long is the visit to the park?

To fully visit the excavations of Pompeii would take at least 2 days. To visit the main parts expect about 4 hours that in summer, under the sun, can be quite tiring.
